PROWLERS MAKE 5TH BUCKEYE CUP APPEARANCE
PLAY IN CLUB'S FIRST BUCKEYE CUP FINALS

With a number 2 finish in the regular season standings, the Prowlers kept their streak alive as the only GCHSCHL team to represent the league in each of the first five Buckeye Cup State Tournaments. They represented central Ohio and the GCHSCHL in the 5th Annual Buckeye Cup Ohio High School Club Hockey State Championships hosted this year by the GCHSCHL here in Columbus. Under first year head coach Joe Tonello, the Prowlers continue to uphold their "Tradition of Excellence" in the post season tournaments by advancing to the club's first ever Buckeye Cup Finals.

The Prowlers slipped into a second place finish in the GCHSCHL regular season after a 4-2 loss at Newark on Thursday (2/12) which helped the Generals onto their first ever GCHSCHL regular season title. After a 0-1-3 slide in their final four regular season games, the Prowlers rebounded in the post season to advance to the GCHSCHL Blue Jacket Cup Finals for an unprecedented 6th time.

After a first round bye as the tournament's number two seed, the Prowlers advanced to the Cup Finals by defeating the Hilliard/Southwest Wildcats (#3, 9-9-2, 20 PTS) 5-2 on Friday (2/20), before dropping a hard fought battle to Newark with 2.2 seconds remaining in the game on Saturday (2/21). The team fell to the loser's bracket where they defeated the Northeast Storm (#4, 6-10-4, 16 PTS) 2-1 in overtime on Sunday morning (2/22), earning them the right to play for the club's 4th GCHSCHL Blue Jackets Cup Championship Title. In the final game on Sunday (2/22), Newark came out victorious in a rematch of the 2007 Cup Finals, scoring an empty net goal in the closing minutes to clinch their first ever Cup victory 3-1. Congratulations to the Newark Generals on their first ever GCHSCHL Blue Jackets Cup Championship.

    PROWLERS ALUMNI GAME:
The Ice Prowlers started a new tradition in the 2006-2007 season with the Chris Miller Prowler Alumni Game. The first two games had great turnouts with the varsity team defeating the alumni team 6-4 in 2006-2007, and the alumni winning 7-5 in 2007-2008. This season the alumni dominated with a 9-2 victory on 12/17/2008, behind 4 goals by Cody Berkebile (2007 Pickerington North) and 3 goals by Nick Hess (2007 Pickerington Central). Justin Lohrman (2007 pickerington North) played solid in goal for the "old guys", backstopping the team to victory. Prowler Hockey was happy to have so many players and families return and look forward to next year's alumni game.
