PROWLERS WIN 4th REGULAR SEASON TITLE
...BOW OUT IN CBJ CUP PLAYOFFS
...REPRESENT GCHSCHL IN BUCKEYE CUP STATE PLAYOFFS

PRPC Prowler HockeyAfter leading the league for most of their 10th anniversary season, the Prowlers won their 4th GCHSCHL regular season title (in the last 5 years) and earned the number one seed for both the GCHSCHL Blue Jackets Cup and Buckeye Cup State Championship Tournaments.

The team came out of the holiday break on a roll. After ties at Newark (2-2 on 1/4) and at Athens (4-4 on 1/6) to start the new year, they stepped outside of the league to defeat the West London Winterhawks of the Greater London Hockey League (GLHL - London, Ontario Canada) (3-1 on 1/12) before rounding out their six league series. The Prowlers clinched the season series against Westerville (5-1 on 1/13) at 3-1-0, then swept the Olentangy Braves (8-5 on 1/25) at 4-games-to-none, before clinching the season series against Hilliard/Southwest (3-2 on 2/1) at 2-0-2. They rounded out their season series with Newark by shutting out the Generals (3-0 on 2/3) to clinch that season series at 2-1-1, then clinched their 1st place finish with a 3-1 win (2/8) over Athens to give them a 2-1-1 edge in that series. They ended the regular season with an 8-1 win over the Northeast Storm (2/15) to sweep that series 4-games-to-none.

GCHSCHL Blue Jackets CupAfter a first round bye, the Prowlers opened the second round of the GCHSCHL Blue Jackets Cup Playoffs on Friday (2/22), dropping a hard fought 3-1 decision to the eventual Cup Champion Olentangy Braves (#4, 12-11-1). After falling into the loser's bracket, the team then suffered a tough 7-5 loss to the Hilliard/SW Wildcats (#6, 5-15-4) on Saturday (2/23), eliminating them from the tournament. This marks the first time in six seasons that the Prowlers will not be playing in the GCHSCHL Blue Jacket Cup Finals. Congratulations to the Olentangy Braves on their program's first GCHSCHL Blue Jackets Cup Championship.

The Buckeye CupThe Prowlers where honored to represent the GCHSCHL for the forth consecutive time in the 4th Annual Buckeye Cup Ohio High School Club Hockey State Championship hosted this year in Cleveland by the North Coast High School Hockey League (NCHSHL). The team opened the preliminary round short manned with a hard fought 3-1 loss to Cleveland's number 4 seed and 2007 NCHSHL Playoff Champions, the Rocky River Buccaneers on Friday (3/17). Then on Saturday (3/8) they secured a 6-4 victory over Cincinnati's number 2 seed Anderson Chiefs before losing to Cleveland's number 3 seed Riverside Beavers 3-1 that same evening. With a 1-2 record the Prowlers came up just short of qualifying for the Final Four. Congratulations to the GCHSCHL's Newark Generals who advanced to the Final Four for the first time, and to the Buckeye Cup Ohio High School Club Hockey State Champion Athens Bobcats who bring the Cup to the GCHSCHL for the first time in the tournament's four year history.

    PROWLERS ALUMNI GAME:
The Ice Prowlers started a new tradition in the 2006-2007 season with the Chris Miller Prowler Alumni Game. The first two games had great turnouts with the current varsity team defeating the alumni team 6-4 in 2006-2007, and the alumni winning 7-5 in 2007-2008. Any former Ice Prowler players who are interested in playing in next year's game in December 2008, must register with coach Jay C. with your contact information so that you can be included as we try and bring the alumni of Prowler Hockey together again. ALUMNI WHO DO NOT PRE-REGISTER WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PLAY IN THIS EVENT!
