2007 Chris Miller Prowler Alumni Game

On Wednesday, December 19th, 2007, Prowler Hockey held it's second Chris Miller Prowler Hockey Alumni Game to continue the celebration of the 10th anniversary season of Prowler Hockey. With the varsity team sitting in 1st place in the GCHSCHL at the holiday break, they were challenged by an alumni team that featured some of the best players ever to wear a Prowler jersey. The alumni team's numbers were impressive with 10 former captains, 18 former Blue Jacket Cup Champions (including 9 two time Champions) and 10 of the top 20 All-Time scorers. That included three of the top four point producers of all time in T.J. Hess, Cody Berkebile and Nick Hess (see more alumni player information below). In total, 20 alumni came out to participate in the event.

The game was named in 2006 to honor former Watkins Memorial High School student Chris Miller, who wore number 16 for the Prowlers from their inaugural season in 1998-1999 to his departure for Junior B hockey with the Peoria Mustangs and Columbus Crush in 2001-2002. Chris passed away on October 11th of 2002 and was honored at this year's game by his father Tom Miller who dropped the honorary 1st puck with Chris' younger brother and current Prowler Jake Miller and Chris' good friend and former teammate Bo Ross facing off.

Seven was the magic number for this year's game as the seven 2007 graduates made the difference for the alumni squad. They provided "new blood" that gave the alumni a jump with good skill and speed. 2007 Pickerington Central grad Nick Hess and 2007 Pickerington North grad Cody Berkebile led the alumni team to a 7-5 victory over the current varsity squad.

There was a great fan turnout for the game again this year with many friends and family members in attendance lining the glass. Afterwards the players all enjoyed some time mingling with past teammates and getting to know the past and present of Prowler Hockey. The event was a fun time for all, and players have already begun to discuss "next year's game". Thanks to all of the Prowler Alumni who came out to participate and helped to continue our "Tradition of Excellence".
