Game Recap
PRPC away versus the Olentangy Braves
1st SHOWDOWN WITH OLENTANGY
Olentangy came out of the gates hungry and looking to take a piece of first place. They scored early on a Neil Grant goal 55 seconds into the game. With that goal and strong goaltending by John Snyder, they looked to be on their way to challenging PRPC for first place in the league. There was a goalie at the other end that saw it differently though. Sophomore Jesse Betts shut the door on the Braves the rest of the way, stopping 19 of 20 shots after giving up that early goal. His teammates rallied around his 9 saves in the first period to keep them in the game. PRPC started the second period with an unassisted power play goal by Freshman Brian Rossi at 13:08 of the period to tie the game at one and finally dent Snyder's armor. His teammates followed that with two quick goals 13 seconds apart by Junior Eric Willard (assisted by Junior Eric Weinhold and Freshman Nick Hess) at 3:22 and then by Senior T.J. Hess (assisted by Junior Matt Schuh) at 3:09. That would be all that PRPC would need as Betts and the PRPC defense shut down the high powered Olentangy offense allowing only 5 shots in each of the last two periods. |
